Travel Guide Overview

Introduction: Welcome to Paradise!

Imagine a place where blue-green water meets soft white sand. Thick tropical forests touch the sea. Underwater, bright colors and fish fill the scene. This place is not made up, it is real.

It is called the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a group of islands in the Bay of Bengal in India. There are hundreds of islands, but only some are open for visitors. Here, you will find some of the most beautiful beaches on Earth.

What makes the beaches in the Andamans special is how clean and peaceful they are. The water is so clear that it feels like you are looking into an aquarium, and the sand is soft and white. Some beaches are great for water sports and fun activities, while others are quiet and perfect for relaxing.

People come here for many reasons. Couples may choose it for a romantic trip, families may come for fun and swimming, and adventurers may want to explore under the sea and see colorful coral reefs. This beach guide will help you find the best beaches in the Andamans so you can pick the perfect paradise for your trip

Why it’s special: People say this is one of the best beaches in all of Asia. And guess what? They are right! It has won many awards and is famous all over the world.

What you will see: Imagine a long, long stretch of white sand that goes on and on. The sand is so fine and soft that it squeaks under your feet when you walk.

The water is clean and blue green, like a gem you might see in a jewelry shop. The beach is very wide – about 40 to 50 meters from the trees to the water – so it never feels too crowded even when many people visit.

Big green trees grow right next to the sand, giving nice spots of shade.

What you can do:

– Take a nice swim in the safe water – there are lifeguards watching

– Walk along the shore and feel the soft sand between your toes

– Watch the sunset – it turns the whole sky orange, pink, and purple!

– Take pretty pictures for your family and friends

– Just sit and read a book while listening to the waves

– Play with kids in the shallow water near the shore

Good to know: This beach gets busy in the middle of the day, especially from December to January. Come early morning (before 9 am) or late evening (after 4 pm) for the best time.

There are small shops nearby selling cold drinks, coconuts, and snacks.

Best time to visit: October to May

Why it’s special: If you love fish and colorful underwater things, this is the place for you. This is the number one spot for snorkeling in all of Andaman.

What you will see: The water is very shallow and super clear. You can walk in up to your waist and still see amazing things below.

There are coral reefs that look like gardens under the sea – some shaped like brains, some like branches, some like big round rocks.

Fish of all colors – blue, yellow, orange, black and white striped – swim all around. You might even see starfish, sea cucumbers, and small octopus if you are lucky.

What you can do:

– Go snorkeling (they give you a mask and tube to breathe while looking at fish)

– Try fun water sports like jet ski, banana boat ride, or sea walk

– Take a glass-bottom boat – you sit and see fish through the glass floor!

– Take underwater photos (some shops have special cameras)

– Learn to scuba dive if you have more time

How to reach: You must take a short boat ride from Havelock Island to reach this beach. The boat takes about 20-30 minutes.

The ride itself is fun – you see the island from the water and feel the wind in your hair.

Good to know: The water is calm and perfect for beginners. Even people who cannot swim can enjoy snorkeling here with a life jacket.

The best coral and fish are on the left side of the beach. Go early in the morning when the water is clearest.

Best time to visit Andaman: November to April (for best underwater viewing)

Kalapathar Beach (Havelock Island / Swaraj Dweep)

Why it’s special: This beach is quiet and peaceful. Great for people who want to relax away from crowds and noise.

What you will see: The name “Kalapathar” means “black rocks” in Hindi. You will see big black rocks along the shore that look beautiful against the white sand and blue water.

The rocks are smooth and some are as big as cars. The sand is white and the water is clear blue. Green forest comes right down to the beach.

The rocks make the beach look different from others and give great spots for sitting and watching the sea.

What you can do:

– Sit quietly and listen to the waves crash on the rocks

– Take beautiful photos with the black rocks and blue sea

– Have a peaceful walk – the beach stretches for about 2 kilometers

– Enjoy a picnic with your family under the trees

– Watch small crabs scuttling on the rocks

– See the sunrise if you stay nearby

Good to know: There are no water sports here. No shops, no loud music. Just pure peace and quiet. Perfect for couples and people who love photography.

The road to reach this beach goes through nice forest. You can take a taxi or rent a bicycle to get there.

Best time to visit: October to May

Laxmanpur Beach (Neil Island / Shaheed Dweep)

Why it’s special: This beach is famous for its beautiful sunsets. Families love coming here because it’s safe and has lots to see.

What you will see: When the tide goes out (the water level goes down), you can see small pools of water left behind on the sand.

These are called tide pools. Kids love looking in them for small fish, crabs, and pretty shells.

At one end of the beach, there is a famous rock formation called the “Natural Bridge” that looks like a bridge made by nature. The beach is wide and the water is calm.

What you can do:

– Watch the sunset – it’s an amazing view you will remember forever

– Walk to the natural bridge rock formation (best at low tide)

– Let kids play in the shallow water and explore tide pools

– Collect pretty shells (but leave some for others too)

– Take a slow walk along the 2-kilometer-long beach

– Sit on the sand and eat local snacks

Good to know: Check the tide timings before you go. Low tide is the best time to explore and walk to the natural bridge.

Ask your hotel or local people about when low tide happens. The beach is easy to reach from anywhere on Neil Island.

Best time to visit: October to May

Bharatpur Beach (Neil Island / Shaheed Dweep)

Why it’s special: This is the beach for water fun on Neil Island. If you want to get in the water and see fish, this is the place.

What you will see: The water here is calm and clear. It’s not too deep near the shore, so even people who cannot swim well can enjoy.

The beach is smaller than others but packed with things to do. The sand is white and the water has beautiful shades of blue and green.

What you can do:

– Ride a glass-bottom boat – see fish without getting wet!

– Try snorkeling – the coral here is nice and close to shore

– Go on a banana boat ride with friends

– Just splash around in safe, shallow water

– Take a boat to nearby small islands

– See many colorful fish without going deep

Good to know: This beach is small but full of fun things to do. Good for a half-day trip. There are small shops that rent equipment and sell cold drinks.

The coral here got damaged many years ago by a cyclone but is growing back and you can still see many fish.

Best time to visit: October to May

Corbyn's Cove Beach (Port Blair)

  • Why it’s special:  It’s the closest beach to the main city of Port Blair. Easy to reach and perfect for a quick beach break!

What you will see: A curved beach shaped like a half-moon lined with coconut palms. The water is dark blue and the waves are a little stronger here than on other beaches.

It has a fun, happy feeling with local families and tourists enjoying together. There are chairs to sit and small restaurants nearby.

    What you can do:

    – Try water sports like jet skiing and speed boat rides

    – Sit at a beachside cafe and eat snacks like pakoras and drink coconut water

    – Take a walk along the shore and feel the breeze

    – Click photos with coconut trees and the sea behind

    – Visit the small war memorial nearby

    – Just relax for a few hours when you have free time in the city

Good to know: This beach can get crowded on weekends with local people having picnics. It’s not as pretty as the faraway island beaches, but it’s great for a quick visit when you are in the city. The sunset here is also nice to watch.

Best time to visit: October to May

Wandoor Beach (Port Blair)

Why it’s special: This is the gate to the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park. From here, you can explore many small islands and amazing sea life.

What you will see: Beautiful clear water with many small green islands in the distance. The beach has white sand and big trees for shade. The water is calm and clean. You can see small boats coming and going to the nearby islands. The beach itself is very pretty and less crowded than Corbyn’s Cove.

What you can do:

– Take a glass-bottom boat to see coral and fish in the marine park

– Go snorkeling in protected areas with guides

– Visit nearby small islands like Jolly Buoy or Red Skin

– Learn about sea life at the interpretation center

– Have a quiet picnic on the beach

– Take photos of the beautiful views

Good to know: You need to take a boat from here to explore the marine park. The park rules say only one island is open at a time – either Jolly Buoy or Red Skin – so the coral stays healthy.

Check which one is open before you go. The boat ride takes about 30-40 minutes to reach the islands.

Best time to visit:  October to May

Vijaynagar Beach (Havelock Island / Swaraj Dweep)

Why it’s special: This is a long, long beach perfect for long walks and peaceful time.

What you will see: The beach stretches for about 3 kilometers. You can walk and walk and still see beautiful views.

There are some nice resorts along this beach, but plenty of empty space too. The sand is soft and the water is clear. Palm trees grow along the shore.

What you can do:

– Take a long morning walk when the air is cool

– Relax under a palm tree with a book

– Watch local fishing boats going out and coming back

– Enjoy the quiet atmosphere with few people

– Look for shells and interesting stones

– Swim in the calm water (but check safety first)

Good to know: This beach is less famous than Radhanagar, so it’s more peaceful. Great for people who just want to relax and not do much.

Some parts have rocks, so be careful where you walk into the water. The sunset views here are also very nice.

Best time to visit: October to May

Butler Bay Beach (Little Andaman)

Why it’s special: This beach is on Little Andaman Island, far from the main tourist places. It has big waves and a wild feeling.

What you will see:  A long, wild beach with strong waves. This is not a swimming beach but great for watching the power of the ocean.

There is a lighthouse nearby that gives beautiful views. The forest comes right to the beach.

What you can do:

– Watch the towering waves crash on the shore

– Climb the lighthouse for amazing views

– See a beautiful waterfall nearby called Whisper Wave

– Feel like you are at the end of the world

– Take dramatic photos

Good to know:  Little Andaman is far away and takes time to reach. You need to plan at least 3-4 days for this trip. The waves are too strong for swimming, so just enjoy from the shore.

Best time to visit: November to April

Best Time to Visit Andaman Beaches

The weather in Andaman is warm all year. But some months are better than others for beach fun. Let me explain each season simply.

October to May – The BEST Time!

This is the perfect time to visit. The sky is clear and blue.

The sun is warm but not too hot – around 28 to 32 degrees. The sea is calm so boats can take you to all beaches without any problem. You can do all water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, and jet skiing

This is also the busy time when many tourists come, especially in December and January. If you come in October, November, February, or March, it’s less crowded but still beautiful weather.

December to January: Most crowded. Book hotels and ferry tickets well in advance. Weather is cool and nice.

February to March: Still good weather. Crowds become less. Good time to visit.April to May: Getting hotter but still nice. Sea is calm. Good for water sports.

June to September – Monsoon Season

It rains during these months. Sometimes it rains all day, sometimes just for a few hours. The sea gets rough and some boat trips stop for safety. You cannot do water sports on rainy days.

But there is one good thing – fewer people come. You can have beaches almost to yourself! Hotels also cost less money – sometimes half price!

The islands become lush and beautiful. If you don’t mind rain and just want to relax, you can still enjoy. Just keep extra days in your plan in case boats don’t run.

Our advice: For the best beach holiday with all activities, come between October and May. For cheap prices and peace, try June to September, but be ready for rain.

Tips for Visiting Andaman Beaches

Here are some simple tips to make your beach trip safe and fun:

– Go early or late: Beaches are less crowded in the morning (before 10 am) and evening (after 4 pm). The light is also best for photos at these times. Middle of the day is hot and crowded.

– Use safe sunscreen: Regular sunscreen has chemicals that can hurt fish and coral. Please buy “reef-safe” sunscreen from shops. It keeps you safe and also protects sea life. You can buy it in Port Blair or bring from home.

– Carry water: Always bring your own water bottle. Walking on sand is hot and will make you thirsty. Some beaches don’t have shops nearby. You can refill at your hotel each morning.

– Keep cash with you: Small beach shops may not take cards or phone payments. Keep some cash for snacks, cold drinks, coconut water, and small things you want to buy.

Be kind to nature: Please do not throw trash on the beach. Take your empty bottles and wrappers back with you. Do not touch or step on coral – it breaks easily and takes many years to grow back.

– Book early: For busy beaches like Elephant Beach, water sports and boat rides can fill up fast. Book them one day before if you can. For December-January travel, book everything weeks before.

Wear good slippers/shoes: Some beaches have rocks, shells, or small sharp things that can hurt your feet. Water shoes are highly useful, and you can buy them cheaply in Port Blair or bring from home.

– Ask about safety: Before swimming, ask local people or lifeguards if the water is safe. Some beaches have strong waves or hidden currents. Never swim alone. Pay attention to warning flags or signs.

– Carry a dry bag: These are bags that keep your phone, camera, and dry clothes safe from water. Very useful for beach days and boat rides.

Pack light for beach day: Just take what you need – swimsuit, towel, water, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, some snacks, and camera. Leave valuables in hotel safe.

Learn about tides: Some beaches are best at low tide (like Laxmanpur for the natural bridge). Ask your hotel about tide times so you don’t miss the best views.

Try local food: On beaches you will find small shops selling fresh coconut water, grilled corn, and local snacks. They are tasty and cheap. Try them!

Respect local rules: Some beaches have no-swim zones or protected areas. Follow the rules – they are there to keep you and nature safe.
